Hurricane Rita

I’m worried about this storm, not as much as I was with Katrina which I worked on for a Benefit (raised over $65k to date), I think the people will get out of the way of the storm, and if not, the cities are all above sea level. So it could flood, but the water will leave.

What I’m worried about as well, is my servers! I have 4 severs located in Houston, Texas with about 99% of all my business. The buildings they are in should be safe, its basically a bomb shelter, with 3-4 days of backup power, but the internet lines going into the building or something could be cut… I’m hoping for the best.

Backing up all my important data now.

p.s. I’m glad Los Angeles doesn’t have to deal with hurricanes (knock on wood)

New Orleans is put under a tropical storm warning as Category 4 Hurricane Rita passes across the Gulf Coast.

My official opinion on whether they should rebuild New Orleans is best summed up in a Monty Python sketch:

When I first came here, this was all swamp. Everyone said I was daft to build a castle on a swamp, but I built in all the same, just to show them. It sank into the swamp. So I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So I built a third. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up. And that’s what you’re going to get, Lad, the strongest castle in all of England.
